The Studio Project
Sometimes an interest takes on a life of its own and just grows! For reasons I still can't fathom I have decided to recreate a WTBS RSG/SRHQ bunker-based studio.
The Original Studios
Over the 40 year life of the WTBS, the studio equipment in the many reiterations of the RSG/SRHQ bunkers varied with the installation phases of when the BBC Radio Capital Projects Department (RCPD, later Studio Capital Projects Department, SCPD) installed them and, most imprtantly, when money was available from central government to do this.
The Recreation
The aim of this project is to recreate a typical and working WTBS studio that would be found in a 1970s era bunker. Using BBC specification broadcast equipment from the era plus a few additions that would have, very likely, been brought into the studio if the bunker had been activated.
